General Information
The daily energy requirement of 2000 kilocalories (kcal) used on the packages of Dr. Oetker products as a basis for nutrition labelling is a recommendation of the Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries in the EU (CIAA). The real daily energy requirement however is different for every individual and depends on a multitude of parameters such as age, gender, body weight and level of physical activity. Unfortunately it is not possible to include this multitude of parameters in the nutrition labelling on the packages. Therefore the values for a middle-aged women with mainly sedentary activity were selected by the CIAA.
Nevertheless, to determine your personal calorie requirement, Dr. Oetker provides you with this calorie calculator
online. It considers your gender, your age and your occupational and
leisure activities. Furthermore you can chose a product from the
Dr. Oetker pizza range and see how much of your daily energy requirement is contained in a portion of the product in question.
The energy recommendations on which the calorie calculation is based, solely apply to people with "normal weight". Therefore the usage of the Dr. Oetker calorie calculator is only meaningful for people with a BMI within the normal range. The stated calorie requirement corresponds to the daily energy intake to maintain the current body weight. In case of over- or underweight individual corrections are necessary which the calorie calculator cannot display.
